Welcome to the first CSEG-EAGE Workshop!
Achieving exploration success in onshore frontier land basins is still as difficult as it was 20 years ago. Certainly, our ability to image complex structures and characterize reservoirs has improved, but the main risks of structure, trap, migration, and seal are as prevalent today as they were back then. With the emergence of unconventional or tight oil and gas and deepwater prospecting, our focus as an industry has tended to drift away from conventional land exploration problems. However, this part of the industry not only still exists, but is thriving in less mature basins worldwide.
