EAGE/SPE Joint Workshop on Shale Oil

The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) and the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) are organizing a joint research workshop Exploration of Shale Oil Resources and Reserves. The workshop will be held in Moscow, Russia, from 13 April to 15 April 2015.

According to expert estimates, Russia has the largest reserves of shale oil and thus has great potential for its production. We witness a growing interest for the development of unconventional hydrocarbon deposits, such as the Bazhenov formation in Western Siberia, the Kuonamskaya formation and the Domanic deposits of the Eastern European platform. One of the main issues is the development and application of new technologies for the exploitation of tight oil reserves.
